I am starting this blog by jumping back in time. Almost two years ago, back in March 2017, my friend Dragos sends me a message asking if I would like to try out squash.
“Squash, what?”, I say.
But he was prepared. He immediately sents me some video links to understand what he’s talking about.
“Let’s try”, I say.
To be honest, there was a sports gap to fill in my life, but little to no idea I had back at that time that squash could be the one to fill it.
I had been playing basketball for almost 20 years, but had stopped in 2014-2015. Year by year my friends have stopped playing and the only ones I could still play with were in another league than I was. Thus, I had to sadly say goodbye to basketball. In the years to come, 2014 – 2017, I have been trying running (even marathons), cycling (even managed 250 km in one day) and swimming (taking part even in a triathlon). All was good, but I was doing these mostly because I cannot live without sport, not because I was feeling a deep passion inside me.
All this was about to change.
Thus, in this blog I will walk you through my squash journey, step by step. I will share my learnings, challenges, fears, quests and friends I made. Hope you’ll enjoy it.
